The RJH is a project for the construction and operation by the CEA of a nuclear reactor at the Cadarache center. The objective of this reactor is to conduct research on two main themes: electricity generation through thermonuclear reaction and medical research. The research topics addressed aim to improve fuel performance, develop new materials for next-generation power plants, enhance the reliability of radioelements used for medical applications, and extend the service life of France’s 58 reactors.
The RJH is intended to advantageously replace several current nuclear research facilities that have reached the end of their service life, such as OSIRIS, ORPHE, PHEBUS, and CABRI.
Examples of projects carried out by PHAREA within the framework of the RJH:
- Design of pool liners
- Sizing of transfer airlocks
- Design of shielded doors
