ITER is a project for the development and operation of an experimental nuclear fusion thermonuclear reactor located in Cadarache in the south of France. 35 countries have partnered (including the countries of the European Union) to create what is today one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken in the field of energy, the objective being to create a machine (a Tokamak) demonstrating that nuclear fusion can be a future energy source for large-scale electricity production without uranium.

A few examples of projects carried out by PHAREA within the framework of ITER:

• Design and sizing of ventilation and air conditioning networks, electrical network buildings, instrumentation and control, and complex gas and fluid systems for the TOKAMAK and surrounding buildings
• Structural justification of the overhead cranes equipping the Cryostat assembly building
