Ariane 6

An European Space Agency (ESA) programme, Ariane 6 is a family of launch vehicles designed to offer maximum flexibility to customers in institutional and commercial markets, thanks to its ability to place any type of payload into an optimized orbit, whatever the mission: low Earth orbit (LEO), geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) or sun-synchronous orbit (SSO). With a very large fairing volume, Ariane 6 can perform both conventional launches, single or dual, and complex missions meeting new market needs, such as placing electric-propulsion satellites into orbit or the multiple launch of constellations, thanks to its upper stage equipped with the restartable Vinci® engine.

PHAREA contributed to the design and sizing of the following equipment:

  • Plant and routing of the oxygen and hydrogen utilities required for the launch vehicle’s propulsion
  • Study of the launch pad/launch vehicle interface (pyrotechnic separation system)
  • Manufacturing system for the oxygen and hydrogen tanks inside the launch vehicle
  • Assembly and inspection line for the oxygen and hydrogen tanks
  • Study of the launch vehicle’s primary and secondary oxygen and hydrogen tanks
